How To Dress Like a NYFW Street Style Sensation

With NYFW over, how good were all the shows? As always, I’m slowly making my way through all of them through the Vogue website while sobbing into my Phish Food Ben & Jerry’s. The thing I love about fashion week isn’t just the incredible shows but the street style which is to-die-for! All the fashionistas really try their hardest to outdo each other (being honest here, soz) and that creates the most spectacular street style ever. My favourite is NYFW and I can’t help spending hours looking at photos of the gorgeous outfits and taking it all in. It really makes me realise how much I love fashion and style.

I picked out four outfits which were so genius I could cry and you can really take a lot out of them. I also found selections of similar items which could help you recreate the look. Remember, the most important thing to wear is confidence! These outfits are show-stopping and jaw-dropping, just like fashion should be.

The first outfit on the left is the one that just made me fall in love with this photo. It’s so unique and mismatched, yet it looks so stylish and amazing, I love it! The fur gillet, worn only on one shoulder is an interesting piece to bring the F/W Season to your outfit and I’ve picked out some similar ones for you, starting at £14 and going up to £105, depending which side of the budget spectrum you’re on. I believe the uber-stylish girl we all secretly wish we were, is wearing the River Island shaggy gillet (pictured third).

If you’re one of the people who aren’t huge fans of faux fur (I seriously don’t understand you), or just fancy something a bit different; the other stylish option shown by these power friends is an embellished waistcoat. It’s worn here with a slightly flared white shirt and black skirt but the waistcoat looks so incredibly chic! I love the boho edge it also adds to the whole outfit. Even though I couldn’t find the exact waistcoat worn by this style sensation, I found some other ones which are just as (if not more) interesting. They could make any old outfit look absolutely fabulous!

Aside from the (mostly sleeveless), things we throw over our outfits when it gets windy, what you have underneath is just as important. White shirt paired with anything is a classic (and usually a winner) but when it comes to mixing a coloured, leather skirt with a patterned blouse? Things get more difficult.

Whether your preferred length is super-short or ankle-grazing, I’ve got you covered with a selection of absolutely stunning leather skirts in different shapes, lengths and styles. There is something for everyone!

Now that you’ve all fallen in love with one or all of those amazing skirts, the question you will probably ask yourself is: But what would I even wear it with? Here’s your answer! Just like the fabulous trend-setter above, don’t be scared to match a loud and interesting skirt with another loud print. I’ve picked out a top for each of the skirts which would match it and make you look like the absolute style-goddess.

Of course, those two outfits wouldn’t be complete without a perfect A-list celebrity pair of sunnies. The seventies are still taking the streets and runways by the storm and a pair of round or cat-eye sunglasses is just what you need. Yes, even at winter time.

From top to bottom: Left: H&M, £7.99; Right: The Row, £130. Left: Wood Wood, £105; Right: Fendi, £295. Left: Yesstyle, £7.89; Right: Ray Ban, £150.

If you weren’t envious enough already of the two street style queens featured above, here’s more street style inspiration from NYFW!
